Mogadishu – Somali Foreign Minister Abdul Salam Abdi Ali received Sudanese Ambassador Abdulrahman Khalil Ahmed Abu Bakr at his office to discuss bilateral cooperation, national sovereignty, and regional issues affecting both countries.

The ambassador reaffirmed Sudan’s full support for Somalia and congratulated the country on successfully conducting its first local elections under the “one person, one vote” system in 57 years.

The meeting also highlighted Somalia’s strategic importance in the Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and the Indian Ocean, as well as its role as a current member of the United Nations Security Council.

Analysts note that such high-level diplomatic engagements reinforce Somalia’s regional partnerships, enhance security coordination, and signal international recognition of the federal government’s authority in addressing both domestic and regional challenges.
