Las Anod – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, alongside Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, senior Somali officials, and foreign diplomats, attended the inauguration of Northeast State President Abdulqadir Ahmed Ali “Firdhiye” in Las Anod.
In his speech, President Mohamud announced the official integration of the Northeast State into the Federal Government of Somalia and hailed Las Anod as a symbol of national unity. He confirmed that the state now enjoys the same rights and responsibilities as all other federal member states, reaffirming the government’s commitment to developing, protecting, and rebuilding the region.
President Mohamud strongly condemned Israel’s recognition of Somaliland and warned against foreign interference in Somalia’s internal affairs, stating, “It is impossible for Israel to establish a government in Somalia or implement its destructive strategies here. Somalia rejects this, and the world rejects it.”
He accused Israel of prioritizing its own interests over those of northern Somali residents and reiterated that Mogadishu would take all necessary measures to safeguard the country’s unity and territorial integrity.
The ceremony received wide international attention, with ambassadors from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Sudan, and a ministerial delegation from Djibouti in attendance, signaling diplomatic support for the new regional administration and Somalia’s federal framework.
