Mogadishu – The Somali Federal Parliament, during a historic joint extraordinary session held on Sunday, unanimously adopted a resolution firmly rejecting Israel’s recognition of the Somaliland region.

In a decisive legislative move, both the House of the People and the Upper House (Senate) declared the recognition “null and void,” emphasizing that it carries no legal legitimacy under international law and constitutes a clear violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The resolution, titled “Resolution on Rejecting and Preventing Israel’s Violation of the Sovereignty, Territorial Integrity, and Independence of the Federal Republic of Somalia,” was adopted during the first extraordinary session of the Seventh Parliamentary Term, held at the parliamentary headquarters in Villa Hargeisa.

The document unequivocally affirms that Somalia’s northwestern regions, commonly referred to as Somaliland, remain an inseparable part of the sovereign territory of the Federal Republic of Somalia. It further states that any claims of secession or international recognition lack any legal basis and are invalid under international law.
