New York – Somalia’s Minister of Education, Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, emphasized the central role of education during a sideline meeting at the United Nations General Assembly. Minister Abdulkadir highlighted the federal government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education, addressing challenges stemming from years of conflict, and ensuring inclusive learning opportunities for all children.
The minister detailed ambitious initiatives, including the training of 3,000 teachers and the launch of programs aimed at providing free education for all Somali children. These measures are designed to build a strong foundation for the country’s education system and drive long-term development across Somalia.
Minister Abdulkadir also linked the focus on education to broader systemic transformation, noting that revamping the sector could generate positive ripple effects in other areas, including economic growth, health, and social development.
International delegates and attendees praised Somalia’s proactive approach, recognizing that these commitments, when implemented, could play a transformative role in shaping the nation’s future and strengthening its regional and global partnerships.
