Mogadishu (SPT) – Senior representatives of the Federal Government of Somalia and the Somali Future Council convened a consultative meeting in Mogadishu on Wednesday, according to reports from local radio stations. The talks form part of ongoing efforts to engage political actors ahead of an anticipated national consultative forum.

Sources familiar with the meeting indicated that discussions focused on political coordination, confidence-building, and aligning positions ahead of a planned gathering expected to bring together federal leaders and representatives from Puntland and Jubbaland. The engagement is viewed as an initial step toward broader dialogue amid ongoing disagreements over governance and political processes.

Prior to the meeting, government officials reportedly held separate consultations with political figures and influential actors to assess views and create space for consensus-building. These preliminary engagements are intended to reduce friction and ensure broader participation in upcoming discussions.

The meeting was held at Jazeera Hotel in Mogadishu and was attended by senior federal officials, including members of the cabinet and parliament. Officials emphasized their commitment to dialogue and underscored the importance of inclusive political engagement as Somalia navigates a sensitive political period.
