Somalia’s federal government and a group of opposition leaders have reached an agreement on the model for the upcoming elections, though other opposition factions continue to reject the plan.

Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre has appointed Ali Yassin Gurbe as the new Director General of the TUBSAN National Center for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism. The move aims to strengthen institutional efficiency, enhance coordination, and advance Somalia’s national counter-extremism efforts.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has praised the Somali Cabinet for demonstrating transparency during a week-long performance review led by Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre. He also announced the launch of a new Coordination and Delivery Unit (CDU) to strengthen accountability and accelerate implementation of government priorities.
