Overview

The Civic Media and Digital Literacy Campaign by Somali Policy Talk (SPT) empowers citizens to effectively use digital platforms and media for civic participation, advocacy, and informed decision-making. This program aims to combat misinformation, enhance online civic engagement, and equip individuals—especially youth and community leaders—with the skills to navigate digital spaces responsibly and ethically.

Program Objectives

  • Promote Digital Literacy: Strengthen citizens’ ability to access, evaluate, and use digital information effectively.
  • Combat Misinformation: Educate the public on identifying and responding to false or harmful online content.
  • Encourage Civic Engagement: Use digital tools and media platforms to promote civic education and active participation.
  • Support Safe Digital Spaces: Advocate for ethical communication and online safety, especially for women and youth.

Key Activities

  • Workshops & Training Sessions: Educate citizens, journalists, and youth on digital literacy, fact-checking, and ethical media use.
  • Media Awareness Campaigns: Promote responsible content sharing and highlight the role of digital media in civic life.
